I've been having a lot of discussions with my friends here in College Town...

No one can make you happy but you.

I have a lot of friends looking outside themselves to attempt to fill the "gap" in themselves. If you're not happy, you need to figure out why.

Me, I'm really stressed out and frazzled; but for the most part I'm really happy with my life. I have fantastic friends, a great job, plans to attend an incredible Masters program, etc. I know not everyone is as blessed as me in those things. We may not be able to control the things that happen in our lives, but we can control our reactions to those things. Bad things happen. I'm sick of trying to coach friends through breakups of people who their world revolved around. It's a terrible thing, but that doesn't mean that your life is going to end. Boyfriends and girlfriends may come and go, but you are in a relationship with yourself for the rest of your life.

We have to be our own soulmates. Our soulmate is not someone outside of ourselves, but instead the person we are going to become. Our other relationships can be wonderful, meaningful, and fulfilling; but we cannot expect everything from one other person who is not ourself.
